The story starts right off the bat with a pretty disturbing set of scenes that set a dark tone to the entire novel. Warning: There are graphic torture scenes in this novel, not for the feint of heart.

I have a few problems with this novel. Lets start with the plot and the storytelling. They were just too crammed and out of order. There seemed to be two different plots that did not coincide very well. The story would jump from one plot to another, and not in a fluid fashion. Next to that, I had a huge problem with the weak romance. Throughout the story only a minimal of romantic sparks were set off. It was a major disappointment.

Switching to looking at the positives, I appreciated the strong female protagonist. She took care of herself and kicked butt. I liked the action sequences in the very end as well. I give Skin Deep TWO STARS OUT OF FIVE!
